Troop 65G was officially formed in 2022 as a girls only Troop, with four original members: Caralyn, Eleanor, Alayna, and Seren. Alayna and Caralyn were the first two Cub Scouts to Crossover to the Troop. Over the past three and a half years, we have quadrupled in size, with continued steady growth through new additions and rising AOL’s.

Since the troop has been established, we have had the opportunity to go to several scout summer camps, our first (and favorite!) being Bashore Scout Reservation, in Lebanon County. Summer camps allow us to participate in merit badges, such as archery, swimming, first aid, camping, and many more. We’ve also attended 7 Mountains Scout Reservation and Camp Rodney. We plan on returning to Bashore this summer.

Another event we regularly attend is the annual winter Klondike competition. Many Scout Troops get together and compete at stations all around the Scout reservation. Stations can include firestarting, basic first aid, knots and lashings, orienteering, obstacle courses, and shelter building. However, it is not as simple as it seems. The troop has to cart a wooden sled around with them that carries supplies such as pocket knives, a scout handbook, a metal pot, firestarting material, string for knots, fabric for tourniquets, first aid material, and other items. This is always a wonderful teambuilding experience for the Troop, and one of the most popular Troop events every year.

We just recently completed our first-ever Troop backpacking trip that took place in the fall. In total, we hiked 12 1/2 miles of the Appalachian Trail and camped two nights. We also go to our Spring & Fall Camporees, where we participate in various activities. Camporee themes range from tropical to arctic, natural resources to history, and everything in between

We have meetings every Monday, during which we complete rank requirements, Troop activities, Merit Badge requirements, play games, laugh a lot, and more. Troop meetings are from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
